Emily Cucalon is a painter, printmaker, and co-founder of PaperBase. Her work focuses on paths of communication and explores the fragmentation and inaccuracy of thoughts as they are written, sent, and shared. By moving, removing, and reinterpreting postcard images, She creates alternate depictions of written messages using traditional and experimental printing, bookmaking, and painting techniques. Originally from Boston, MA, she currently lives and works in Baltimore, MD. She received her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Painting, Printmaking, and Book Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Cucalon has exhibited throughout the east coast and abroad.
