One week till install. Two weeks till the show is open. 17 days till the opening reception! And still so much to do.
Despite the gorgeous almost–fall end–of–summer weather this weekend, I spent most of it inside. My dreams of a golden summer tan have been replaced with visions of a picture perfect exhibition.
I spent the weekend playing with my new digital picture frame. It should solve all my past artist book exhibiting challenges. It's always a question of: Do you let people flip though the delicate pages with their sticky hands, or do you let them see only one page, protected under glass?
Next month I will showing two hard bound artist books along with my prints. The books will be in a display case, open to one page, as your standard artist book is generally shown. Since I won't have tons of wall space to hang printed out pages of the book (these books are LONG), like I did last fall, I made slide shows that flip through all the pages of both books. A win–win solution! No one gets to touch the books, so they stay clean and pretty for their future owner (please someone love my books, they need a good home) and everyone can see all the pages I meticulously crafted. So, I shelled out some cash on a fancy digital frame with a motion sensor (so cool!) to hang above the books and flip through the pages for me.
Next up, framing all my prints.
